The Partisan Problem
To benefit the ultra-wealthy and corporations, we have been conditioned to see each other as adversaries, opponents, and even enemies. This division does not benefit us.
We deserve better, and we can have it, but first we must understand we are in this together. We need to recognize and emphasize that as a community we have a lot of similarities, along with acceptance that it is natural for us to have a few differences. Responsibility for cleaning up the mess we've been left falls on all of us, and we must work as a team to create beneficial change.
Complaints have accomplished nothing, so I'm stepping up to initiate change for and with my daughter. We have the power to alter the system in ways that are favorable to us. The two party system must end if we are to achieve lasting change that benefits the people over corporations and special interests. When 80% of the congressional races are deemed non-competitive our representatives are incentivized to choose loyalty to their party over the people whose interests they were elected to represent. Polarization is the norm, and overtly adversarial relationships repress bipartisanship. Unity is the antidote!
